New Google Disavow link

Google Disavow link is the long awaited webmaster tool which will be very useful to webmasters and SEO companies. I was speaking to someone the other day about the implications of having websites that manipulate search engine indexes pointing to your own website. There are even many directories out there with fake page ranks. All this can be regarded as link spam and is currently hurting the SEO of many websites. Google has been punishing a lot of websites for link spam, but sometimes you cannot blame a website owner or SEO company for link spam.

Now Google have just introduced DISAVOW on webmaster tools which will now help webmasters to remove bad websites that are linking to your website. When you "disavow" a link to your website, that search engine will disregard the link.

What are the benefits of this?

  1. SEO can now be monitored better
  2. SEO can be improved and repaired as bad back links to your website can harm your SEO
  3.  Better rankings for your website

More news on this will come up shortly.

Importance of keyword research in search marketing

This is another vital topic I would like to share with every reader and those who are into search marketing. A lot of mistakes are made every day in search marketing which is due to poor keyword research or inability to understand keywords and their importance in search engine marketing.
I have shared earlier on about keywords and search marketing which are terms often used in PPC (pay- per click) and SEO.
Whether you are using PPC or SEO to promote your business, keyword research is a necessity. What is keyword research? It is basically knowing and understanding right keywords to use in advertising your website to increase targeted visibility. A good keyword research will help drive quality and targeted visitors to your website. Where as, a bad or poor keyword research will drive wrong visitors to your website.
When do you have to start a keyword research? Keyword research starts with writing your meta tags which can help in SEO. Before you write your website title and keyword tags, you need to find out how valuable the keywords are on the search engine and how valuable the keywords are to your website or business. When I say valuable, I mean; how many people are using the keywords you have chosen to use in your tags? How related are these keywords to your website? These are the first questions you need to ask yourself before choosing keywords to use in your website title, tags and even the name of your domain.
Keywords used in PPC campaigns: Doing a keyword research before setting up your pay-per click campaign is very important. Choosing the wrong keywords for PPC can lead to wasteful clicks thereby contributing to waste of money. For example; if your business or website is about selling food, then the keywords for your PPC should be related to this.
Search engine marketing is not only about driving traffic to your website, but driving the right audience to your website. There are many keyword tools on the internet which can be used today, but the most valuable and free keyword tool to use is the Google keyword tool on adwords:

It shows you an estimated number of people using the keywords, their locations and will tell you how competitive they are. You type in keywords related to your website, search and then select the most relevant ones to your topic or website.
Successful search marketing starts with understanding keywords and knowing how to use them.

Search engine marketing and tips

Today, i am giving some tips on search marketing. I have had some of my clients ask me a few questions like this; "What is the difference between search engine marketing and search engine optimization?", "Is search engine marketing and search engine optimization the same?".

Its a very good question that a lot of people ask, most people confuse search engine optimization (SEO) for search engine marketing (SEM).
I have explained the meaning of SEO in my earlier write up which you can find here, Before i start sharing SEM tips, let me explain search engine marketing (SEM) to those who do not understand what it is.

Search engine marketing, SEM for short, is a sponsored or free internet marketing technology that displays your website in search results and enable people find you easily by the use of keywords. If you do not know what is a keyword, its simply the words or phrases people use in finding your business in the process of a search query on either Google, Bing, Yahoo or other directories.

If you look at the definition above, you will find two important words; sponsored and free. This simply means that you either pay to have your website displayed in search results or pay when people click on a link to your website or get your website displayed for free. When you pay to have your website displayed on a search engine or directory, it is simply a part of SEM called search advertising (this can be by way of Pay per click, PPC, Cost per impression or Cost per miles) and in most cases people pay to be found on the first page. When you don't pay to have your website on the first page of search engines, then that is SEO, in this case search results are triggered by keywords naturally.

From my explanation so far, you can say that SEO and search advertising (either by PPC, CPM) are parts of SEM.

In this era of modern internet technology a lot of people strive to get on the first page of search engines and its either by doing SEO or advertising (PPC, Cost per impression, CPM etc). For advertising, you can start seeing results as soon as a campaign is set up, but for SEO, it takes time but pays at last.

If you are looking at achieving an immediate internet marketing results then PPC is the best option. There are currently many search engines offering this option, but the post popular programs are Google Adwords, Yahoo search marketing and Microsoft adcenter.

Google Adwords is the most popular and effective way of advertising as it gives you the option of spending less or more depending on your budget. You can call it a budget way of advertising.

Yahoo search marketing is a good way of advertising, but is used mostly by big spenders.

Microsoft adcenter is one advertising program that most people are not aware of. It is also a cost effective and budget advertising that any business owner can afford. With Microsoft adcenter you can have your ad displayed on Bing and Yahoo.

Adverts coupled with SEO is a good idea, but knowing how to target the right audience and maximizing the use of advertising programs is essential to avoid wasting your resources. I have had a couple of clients who set up their adword by themselves but ended up wasting money in advertising because their campaigns were not set up in the right way. Setting up an advertising campaign involves more than you think  and that is why it is advisable to do that using people who expertise in doing that to avoid wasteful cost per click.

Before setting up a PPC campaigns;

  1. Write an eye catchy ad (attractive)
  2. Do a keyword research to determine your bidding keywords
  3. Analyze your business or company to determine where you would want your ads displayed on the internet
  4. Determine places you want your ad displayed in relative of your business
  5. Determine how you want to pay and how much you want to pay per click.
  6. If you are not sure of what to do, seek the services of an expert to help you get the right results
In our next topic, i shall be discussing other internet marketing options.

Your business or domain name can affect your website ranking

For sure your business or domain name can affect your website ranking on Google. You might be asking the question HOW? I'll share with you from experiences. Before i share my experiences, i've got words for you. Back in the 90's and early 2000 people liked considering funky and appealing names in giving their business or domain a name. I have also found out lately that people still consider these funky domain and business names, i really don't blame them because they say; "Knowledge is power". Its probably because they do not know the implication of domain names in search engine ranking.

The relevance of keywords cannot be under estimated in giving your business or domain a name. There is a lot of competition on Google, so domain names that contain relevant keywords will be easily found and will also rank in no time because people actually use a part of these keywords for search queries.

The first step in choosing a domain name is to do a keyword research using keyword tool on adword. There are also other keyword research softwares, but the most efficient is Google keyword tool on adwords. The next step is to add one of the popular keywords researched to your business name or domain name, then use this combination to search for available domain names on host providers.

Now let me share my experience on how a domain name affected my pagerank and business.

I started my internet business as a web designer 4 years ago with a funky name; VGLOBE. Then i knew a little about SEO, but did not know how it affects my business. I never got any business with this name because it was very search engine unfriendly. When i started SEO a year later, I realized my mistakes and then changed the business name to BUDGET WEB MARKETERS. In less than 2months of name change i got 2 clients. Why? Its simple; SEO + search engine friendly name= good results.

Same thing happened to one of my clients too. He noticed a big progress when he changed the name of his business and domain. He got found easily and by the time i did his SEO, he started getting loads of traffic to his website. This is the interesting part; SEO is made easier when a domain name is search engine friendly.

So when choosing a business name, it is advisable to contact seo experts or services for advice.

In summary;

  • Avoid funky looking names
  • Avoid personal interests in making a domain name choice
  • Do keyword research using keyword tools
  • Consult SEO experts for advice

Getting your website on 1st page of Google

SEO goes this way; "Give the search engine the best and get the best". SEO process definitely involves intense work in any way you do it. But what happens to the intense work you do? Does it work out well? Does your many hours of link building and article writing give you your desired ranking? I have seen a lot of people do SEO and fail to achieve their desired results. SEO normally takes 3months at most to start seeing results but I'll like to share with you on how i got my clients website on page 1 of Google in 1 week.

Bear it in mind, i did lots of work in that one week, but SEO success is not equal to how intense your work is or how many links or articles you are building. Here are some tips on how i achieved this wonderful result in 1 week:

  1. Writing meta tags: Make sure your website title is not unnecessarily long, make sure the most relevant keywords to the business or website are included in the title or meta keywords, Keep your meta keyword and description as brief as possible, don't muck around trying to be too smart. search engines don't like that.
  2. Site map: It is very important for every website to have a sitemap as it helps the search engine to crawl the pages on your website and display them accordingly in search results.
  3. Quality of link building and articles: Google search engine values real contents and quality of links. How good are the websites pointing to your own url or website in terms of page rank? Are they of high or low page ranks? Are your article websites or blogs of high page ranks? You have got to ask yourself this questions. Don't just build links from any website or post articles on any website. Google still values high page ranks and quality of websites. You are better of having 20 high quality links to your website than 100 low quality links.
  4. Relevance: Of what relevance or importance are the websites pointing to your own url to your website. Are they websites related to your own website? Do they have contents related to what you have on your website? Google value relevance. Its in fact one of the major keys. Example; do not post a food related business on car related website.
  5. Website verification: Get your website verified on Google using Google webmaster tool, verify your website on Bing and Alexa  Claiming your website on Alexa not only help you to track your website performance, but gives you a quality backlink.
  6. Facebook and twitter: These are the two most popular websites on the internet. Apart from getting followers and likes, they automatically llink to your website in search engines.

Making good use of Smart Phones

Have you thought of the reason why people are going crazy about smart phones these days? The first thing that will come into your mind is the beauty, mobility, touch effect, mobile applications etc. That’s all true. Do you remember how we used to go to telecommunication centers in the 90s to make phone calls? How we had analog phones at home? But today, it’s totally a different story. Mobile phones have made communication easy and smart phones have made communication better and more robust.
With the functionalities we have on smart phones today, people are more comfortable. Smart phones are not only a means of communication, but they are a means of entertainment, direction and a good companion. How are you making good use of the opportunities we have on smart phones today?
From my own research, I have found out that kids and teenagers are better in knowing how to manipulate this new technology (Smart phone) than adults. The reason is because we are in a computer age, almost everything we use is computer influenced and kids learn faster than adults because they have less to worry about. So this means this mobile technology can be used positively to affect our kid’s future.

How can you do this? Researchers have also found out that kids who know how to play games on computers and mobile gadgets are more likely to be good computer programmers in future. Don’t get me wrong, too much of gaming can also spoil your kids. But there is a better way to influence your kids positively with the use of mobile smart phones. Now educational smart phone applications are becoming available on androids, iPhones and blackberries etc. Parents can use this handy tool to teach their kids how to spell English words, solve mathematical questions and more.

Currently application builders are creating smart phone applications where parents and teachers can have a quiz (practice questions and answers) on their smart phones. QUIZCOP is currently building this kind of application. They have just released a quiz application for android which can help students identify parts of speech, solve arithmetic problems and verbal reasoning. This app comes with free lifetime update and is available through this link (QUIZCOP LINK).
It is wise to maximize the opportunities available on our smart phones as they can be an innovative way of educating our generation.

If you want to have your quiz questions turned into an app for iPhones and androids, quizcop can be contacted here.

Why you need budget web designers

Budget web designBeing a budget web design firm does not mean low quality. Some people are deceived by bigger web design and seo firms because they say budget web designers are low quality web design companies. This is all fallacy. Let me tell you why you should prefer budget web design companies.
Most big web design and seo companies do great jobs but rip you off at the end of the day. Their reception may be perfectly okay and tempting but the reason why they probably ask you to pay a fortune for a website is because they have many employees, they have to pay huge amount for office rent and all other miscellaneous expenses. I have seen many business owners complain about this rip off. Most of these big companies are located in big towns and cities and so incur much expenses to run their businesses.

Budget web designers equally deliver quality web designs, You might think they don't charge you much because they are of low quality. But that is far from the truth. Here are some reasons why budget web designers do not charge you much; Most budget web designers work from small offices, homes and have less employees there by having less bills to pay. So they spend less in running their business and will not charge you much as compared to big web design companies who will add their expenses to your bill.
At the end of the day what you want is a quality website designed for you or a quality SEO that is working with proven success.

Come to think of it, Who do you think will spend more time in handling your business? Big web design companies have too many projects to attend to. They might claim to have enough staffs to attend to these projects, but at the end of the they they give less time to your project because the more projects they get the more money they make.
Budget web designers don't have too many projects to attend to and don't ask for much. Why? Because most budget web designers are not only into web design, but do other businesses ore even work part time to cover up their personal expenses. There is a saying that smaller companies or firms look after their customers compared to big firms. The reason is because they have less customers.

Some budget web designers do other things like SEO, hardware, and that is why they do not charge you much to build your website.

There are a couple of good affordable web design companies who deliver great designs. Example;

Budget Web Marketers which is located in Melbourne, Australia designed the following websites at these specified low prices;

1. Budget Web Marketers charged the owner of (adamjohnphotography.com.au) $600 to design this beautiful website

2. Charged the owner of (melbourneaustraliatours.com.au) $1200 to design this website.

These websites are of good quality and you can imagine those amazing low costs charged.

If you are looking at having a website for your business needs whether small or large, contact Budget Web Marketers today.
